Avril Court - new work

Image
Spotlight member Avril Court creates a real variety of work using all sorts of different media and techniques and always showing her imaginative and quirky style. This puppet was made at a workshop with Joy Haynes. Avril says "The face is made from foam coated with diluted PVA. A French style undergarment to fit the hand was then stitched to give movement to the puppet. The clothes were inspired by the materials purchased and the puppet evolved as if by magic!" Inspiration for Inspiration packs

Image
Spotlight Textiles make up 'Inspiration Packs' of fabrics, threads and other sewing notions to offer for sale at exhibitions. We are often asked "What can I do with it?" so this year each member of the group selected a pack and used the contents to make something as an example.  The results are a real variety of items, from bags, cushions, framed pieces and this 3D item made by the talented Julia Ringer entitled 'Woodland Wendy' This is a pack similar to the one used to make 'Woodland Wendy'. Each one contains a dyed cotton fat quarter   This year, to link to the title of our exhibition 'Spotlight on....Heritage' we are also offering packs of vintage fabric, lace and old sewing notions.
